Is hardwood ok for my home theater?

Wilfredo Muldoon: Acoustically, hardwood is not ideal for a home theater. If you do decide to do wood floors in there, make sure to have some thick area rugs to dampen the noise - I like the idea of a shaggy rug that you can lounge on if you wish. Ultimately carpet is the best choice for a home theater.http://oasisavi.com/blog/uploaded_images/home_thea...http://www.homedesignreview.info/images/home-theat...http://www.hometheaterdesignmag.com/images/archive...I couldn't find any examples with hard floors.Good luck, I hope this helps!...Show more

Vernon Martorana: hardwood will cause reverberations. best not to use it.

Sammy Hatzenbihler: it will make the sound echo

Chris Coggins: Hardwood will be fine in the theater. In fact, my company has recently installed floors in a home theater. By the time you get the seating and other stuff in there, their will not be an echo. I might recommend using some area rugs.
