Jess Grizzel: I am currently planning 2 weddings, both under 5,000. (one more along the lines of 3,200). Its very possible to have an elegant, fun, INEXPENSIVE wedding. http://www.theknot.com/Vendors/New-Hampshire-Weddi...These are venues in NH from theknot.com. I'd suggest you get an account and start browsing the site. First thing to do is know your budget, if you only have 3000 to spend but want to invite 120 people, your not going to have a buffet/sitdown dinner but instead an horsdevores and cake reception with either a DJ (you can typically ask friends for references and chances are people know someone) or an ipod with some good speakers. Next is choosing your guest list, if you want a sit down reception dinner, you will have to whittle it down to people who really mean the world to you. Then you have to choose things you really want, if its real flowers, a dj, food, open bar/cash bar, the venue, outdoors/indoors (outdoor tends to be a little more expensive), how mu! ch your willing to spend on a dress, veil, shoes, new jewelery, tux rental for him (if he doesn't own one) or if he's to wear a nice suit he already owns (saves money), car rental, favors, cake, wedding party gifts, decorations (depending on the venue this may be very minimal).then you choose a theme (not required) and colors, (typically 2-4). A great thing to do is not buy ANYTHING on impulse, unless its an absolute steal and you need it. Thats how people everywhere blow their budget. Scout around for decor and such (hobby Lobby, Michaels, Joanne all of which have coupons, and then Christmas Tree Shop, Home Goods) You should buy a binder and keep all your wedding info in there, from ideas in magazines and online to all your vendor info etc. This is a breakdown (a guideline) on how you should budget your wedding, you can always pull from here to add to there etc.http://www.weddingarden.com/budgetbreakdown.phpHope this helps. CONGRATS on your wedding and don't stress too muc! h, you have over a year to plan it all. :) There's always plen! ty of help for Brides online, google is your friend!ALSO, http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/photogallery/...This website has plenty of DIY projects that will help you do it on the cheap (and it can be some bonding time for you and your family/bridal party)...Show more
