answers 0:I brush with Colgate toothpaste and have noticed on the back it carries the seal from the ADA that they have accepted this product. It is on Listerine also. Does this mean Dentists think these products work? Lots of other toothpasts do not have ADA approval, lots of toothbrushes do not either. Why is this? Big name brands like Crest, do not even have ADA approval.answers 1:Because toothpastes are considered a cosmetic item they are not regulated and thus companies may make any claims they desire whether true or not. The ADA seal means that the product has been showen, through testing, to actually do what the seal says. If a product doesn't have the seal it just means that it has not been showen to work either because it hasn't been tested or because it failed the testing.
